The absence of fast bowler Mohammed Shami at this position has fans doubting his future with the team. Shami has been an integral part of the team since joining in 2022. Gill got captaincy in place of Hardik
Gujarat Post also revealed that it sees Shubman Gill as a long-term captain. Before moving to Mumbai Indians last year, Hardik Pandya led the Titans to two consecutive finals and became champions once. After Hardik's departure, Gill was given the captaincy. For Gujarat, Gill has scored 426 runs in 14 matches at an average of 38.72 and strike rate of 147.40. Which includes one century and two half-centuries.
Decision to retain Rashid
Under Gill's captaincy, the team managed to win only 5 out of 14 league matches and finished eighth in the points table of 10 teams. As far as Rashid Khan is concerned, the last season was not as per expectations. He could take only 10 wickets in 12 matches.
