Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill was fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over-rate during the match against Chennai Super Kings on Wednesday. An IPL statement said it was his team's first offense of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate. For this, a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed on Gill.

The Gill-led team suffered its first defeat in IPL 2024 on Tuesday. In the match played in Chepauk, defending champion Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 63 runs. Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans, captaining an IPL franchise for the first time, registered a six-run win against Mumbai Indians in their first match.

Talking about the match, in the seventh match of IPL 2024, Chennai Super Kings defeated Gujarat Titans by 63 runs. Batting first, Chennai scored 206 runs at the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Gujarat team could score only 143 runs after losing eight wickets in 20 overs. With this win, Gaikwad-led Chennai team has reached the top of the points table with four points.

The 63-run defeat is Gujarat's biggest defeat so far in terms of runs in the IPL. Earlier, 10 months ago, they were defeated by Mumbai Indians by 27 runs at Wankhede.
