GT made a big announcement on social media, new captain joined the team

Gujarat Titans team played under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya in IPL 2022 and 2023. But Hardik Pandya joined Mumbai Indians team before IPL 2024. Under the captaincy of Hardik, Gujarat made it to the finals in two seasons and was successful in getting the team the title in IPL 2022. After Hardik, Gujarat Titans team made star Shubman Gill the captain. Now Gill has joined the Gujarat Titans team before IPL 2024.

Shubman Gill joins the team

Gujarat Titans wrote on social media platform X, welcome Captain Gill home. Gill has not captained in IPL before. Gill has held the responsibility of vice-captain of Team India in the Under-19 World Cup 2018. He has performed well for Gujarat Titans in the last two seasons and has single-handedly won many matches for the team.

Performed strongly in the last two seasons

Shubhman Gill scored 483 runs in IPL 2022 and 890 runs in IPL 2023. He was the highest run scorer in IPL 2023. He scored a total of three centuries and four half-centuries this season. He single-handedly took Gujarat Titans to the finals. But in the final, Gujarat had to face defeat against Chennai Super Kings.

The first match will be played on 24 March

Shubman Gill used to play for Kolkata Knight Riders before Gujarat Titans. So far, he has scored a total of 2790 runs in 91 IPL matches including 18 half-centuries. Gill is known for his excellent batting. Gujarat Titans team is going to play its first match in IPL 2024 on 24 March. Whereas Gujarat team will play the second match on 26 March.
