Mirzapur, 08 August (HS). After the three-tier Panchayat by-election under tight security, counting of votes was done in four blocks of the district on Thursday. Sajan in Turkha of development block Lalganj, Rajkumar Singh in Jamuar of Rajgarh, Vindo Kumar in Vyaspur of Majhawan and Sandhya in Gorakhi of development block Jamalpur were declared elected for the post of village head. A total of 68.60 percent voters exercised their franchise.
Sajan was declared elected for the post of Pradhan in Turkha Gram Sabha of Lalganj Block. Sajan won by getting 476 votes. His nearest rivals Ram Lakhan got 447 votes and Surendra Pandey got 356 votes. While 24 votes were declared invalid. RO District Employment Officer and ARO Rajiv Singh gave the certificate. In the by-election of Jamuhar village of Rajgarh Block, former BDC of the village Rajkumar Singh got 1203 votes. His nearest rival Sadafal Singh got 765 votes. Whereas 48 votes were declared invalid. RO and Deputy RMO Sanjay Singh, Sub-District Magistrate Madihan Yugantar Tripathi, BDO Rajgarh Virendra Pratap Verma gave the certificate.
Sandhya won by getting 396 votes in Gorakhi Gram Sabha of Vikas Block Jamalpur. She defeated her nearest rival Manju Devi by 106 votes. Manju Devi got 290 votes, Ram Shankar got 200 votes and Rajiv Kumar got 40 votes. While eight votes were declared invalid. Election Officer Rajesh Kumar Sonkar presented the certificate to Sandhya Devi who was elected in the by-election. While Vindo Kumar was elected for the post of Gram Pradhan in Vyaspur Gram Sabha of Majhawan by getting 708 votes. The nearest rival Dilip Kumar had to be satisfied with 468 votes. While 23 votes were declared invalid. Election Officer Suvigya Singh gave the certificate to the candidate.
