Graduate apprentices will be appointed in banks, what will be their salary and what work will they do? | News India

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced in the budget that one crore youth will be given apprenticeship. After this, this step has been taken by the Indian Banks Association. Under this, appointments are expected to be made in the next one month.

Freshers Jobs: Banks are planning to recruit candidates as graduate 'apprentices'. Banks plan to start recruiting candidates under the age of 25 in less than a month. Sunil Mehta, chief executive of industry lobby group Indian Banks' Association (IBA), said banks will pay a stipend of Rs 5,000 per month to interns who will be given special skill training during office hours. The move follows the announcement made by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Budget.

The target is to provide internship to one crore youth in 500 companies

The government is aiming to provide internships to one crore youth in top 500 companies in the next five years. Explaining the role of banks in implementing the scheme, Mehta said, “There are many areas where we do not need skilled manpower, like marketing, recovery. We can train them in those areas and they can find employment opportunities for themselves.” Mehta said that the candidate applying for 'apprentice' should be between 21-25 years of age and should be a graduate.

Such candidates will not be recruited.

Also, the candidate should not be a taxpayer and should not have a degree from a top institute like IIT or IIM. Mehta also said that such interns, who can be hired for up to 12 months, will also be placed in other areas like business representation to take banking services to the last mile. Mehta said that such candidates will not 'disappear' after working in banks, rather it is also likely that some of them will be inducted as employees.

Mehta said that IBA has held a meeting with the Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs regarding the implementation of the scheme. He said that it can be implemented within a month. However, he did not say how many trainees the banks will appoint, but he said that all banks will participate in this initiative. He said that the government will also support the implementation of the scheme.
