Mumbai: Bollywood actor Govinda has again entered politics. Govinda, who was earlier the Congress MP from Mumbai North from 2004 to 2009, today officially joined the Shiv Sena under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. There has been speculation for a long time that Govinda will contest the elections from Mumbai North West seat as a Shiv Sena candidate this time. However, Shinde did not make any clear announcement regarding Govinda's candidature today.

Welcoming Govinda to the party, Shinde said that I welcome him wholeheartedly. Down to earth and everyone's favorite Govinda has joined Shiv Sena. I welcome and congratulate Govinda, who is popular in all communities.

When Govinda had said that 14 years of exile from politics has ended and I have come to Ramrajya. Govinda has said that I will fulfill the responsibility given to me honestly. Today my entry into the party feels like God's grace and inspiration. I was in politics from 2004 to 2009. Then left Congress and politics.

Mumbai is looking more beautiful and developed since Shinde became the CM. India has achieved incredible development under the leadership of PM Modi.

When asked whether Govinda would contest the elections, Shinde said that Govinda has not put any condition for joining the party.

According to discussions in political circles, Govinda will be given ticket from Mumbai North West seat. Uddhav group has given ticket to Amol Kirtikar on this seat. Amol Kirtikar's father Gajanan Kirtikar is the current MP from this seat. If Shinde gives ticket to Govinda then the fight between father and son can be averted. However, an official announcement from the party is awaited.

Shinde's Shiv Sena does not have enough capable candidates to contest the Lok Sabha. That's why he has included Govinda in the party. However, Govinda's selection is a surprise as Govinda, who gave many superhit films in the 80s and 90s, has been quite inactive in the film line for a long time.

In the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, Govinda won the title of Giant Killer by defeating veteran BJP leader Ram Naik.
