Governor took stock of the development works of Hailakandi district

Guwahati, 23 February (HS). Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Friday chaired a meeting with the heads of departments in the conference room of the District Commissioner's office and took stock of the law and order situation as well as development works in Hailakandi district.

In his second review meeting with the district administration of Hailakandi district, the Governor stressed the importance of Aadhaar seeding, noting that despite the state average being higher, the district lagged behind. He also underlined the need to provide MNREGA facilities to the needy people, ensure 100 days of work guarantee and integrate workers into agricultural activities to help generate livelihoods.

Addressing the Public Health Engineering Department, the Governor appreciated the progress of Swachh Bharat Mission and urged to expedite the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. He also stressed the importance of focusing on effective waste management systems.

On the education front, the Governor said that vacant teaching posts in high schools will be filled soon. He reiterated the need to improve the student-teacher ratio.

Regarding the Irrigation Department, the Governor stressed the importance of implementing the Solar Energy MDTW Scheme. He inquired about the procedures to be followed by the authorities to resolve any problem related to solar plants to the farmers and stressed on the importance of effective communication to resolve the problem.

Additionally, the Governor encouraged the officers to undertake self-review to identify areas of improvement and ensure effective results in their respective areas.

Apart from this, the Governor also reviewed several other schemes under social security schemes like PMJDY, PMSBY, APY.
