Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will visit the border districts in the last week of September. Although the program regarding the tour has not been released by Rajpal Bhawan, it is expected that the Governor may visit for three days between 25 and 28 September. Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and other police officers of the border districts have been alerted in this regard. A senior Raj Bhavan official has confirmed this. This will be the first visit of Chandigarh Governor and Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria. Now it remains to be seen whether the Governor will use the helicopter of the Punjab Government or will prefer the road route.
It is noteworthy that former Governor Banwari Lal Purohit had visited the border district seven times. Purohit himself raised serious questions on the functioning of the government and raised serious questions on the issue of illegal mining and drug addiction. Purohit expressed regret and said that drug addiction has reached school students. He also announced a reward for the panchayats that give clues about drug smugglers. The relationship between Governor Banwari Lal Purohit and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann is intact. Talking to journalists, Purohit claimed that he gives information about his visit to the President, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister and also sends regular reports after the visit.
Now the new Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has also planned to visit six border districts Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Tarn Taran, Pathankot. It will be interesting to see what feedback the people of the border districts will give to the Governor. According to sources, the Governor will also talk to the officers of various security agencies posted in the border districts. What will be the response of Mr. Kataria towards the government after visiting the border districts will be an important thing.
