Government’s priority to promote the export of GI tagged products and food items of Uttar Pradesh globally Keshav Maurya



Keshav Prasad Maurya today reviewed the arrangements and preparations in a meeting held at his official residence regarding the preparations for the arrival of the Japanese delegation in Lucknow. Senior officials of Uttar Pradesh Industries including Additional Chief Secretary Food Processing were present in the meeting. Describing the proposed visit of the Japanese delegation as an important opportunity to showcase the industrial, agricultural and export potential of the state on the global platform, the officials were directed to effectively present the quality and locally prepared ingredients produced by the food processing units of Uttar Pradesh before the Japanese delegation. Along with this, special products manufactured and published under the ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme should be presented, so that the delegation can become familiar with the local production capacity, traditional art-skills and possibilities of modern food processing industry of Uttar Pradesh. The Deputy Chief Minister said that Uttar Pradesh is a very rich state in terms of diverse agricultural products, traditional food items, handicrafts and special local products. Many products of the state have received GI tag, which are in wide demand in the country and abroad. He said that our aim is clear and simple to increase the export of GI tagged products and special food items of Uttar Pradesh to foreign countries on a large scale. This will increase the income of farmers, entrepreneurs, women entrepreneurs and youth of the state and will also create new employment opportunities at the local level. Special attention should be paid to preparing the local products of the state as per the requirements of the international market, their quality, packaging, branding and marketing. He said that through investment and technical cooperation in the food processing sector, the rural economy can be further strengthened along with providing better prices to the farmers for their produce. Shri Maurya said that under the guidance of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India is moving forward as a major center of global investment. To attract foreign investment in Uttar Pradesh, better environment, transparent system and simple and easy processes are being continuously strengthened. Through dialogue with the Japanese delegation, there are possibilities of developing new opportunities in the field of investment, technology, food processing and export in the state. Such international collaborations and investments are important steps towards the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a one trillion dollar economy. Double Engine Government The state government is committed to economically empower farmers, entrepreneurs, women and youth and to give global recognition to the local products of Uttar Pradesh.
