New Delhi, 5 September: Under the ‘Yogi Path: Bemisaal’ discussion series regarding law and order in Uttar Pradesh, an online discussion was organized on Friday on the topic ‘Law and order in Uttar Pradesh’. In the discussion, the speakers described the Yogi government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy towards crime as an important basis for improving law and order in the state. During the discussion, the policies of the government and the functioning of the police administration were mainly appreciated.
The program was coordinated by Prof. Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. Poonam Kumari did it. Former DGP of Uttar Pradesh Surya Kumar Shukla participated in the program as the chief guest. Supreme Court Advocate on Record Pratima Lakra presented her views as the special guest while Saurabh Kumar Akhouri, Managing Director, Commercial Technical Consultancy LLP, Mumbai joined as the speaker.
Inaugurating the program, Director Dr. Shashi Sharma gave the welcome statement. After this, Prof. from the speaker. While introducing Poonam Kumari, she briefly presented the outline, objectives of the program and the prosperity journey of Uttar Pradesh in the last nine and a half years. During this, he especially mentioned women empowerment like self-help groups, self-employment and improvement in law and order.
During the discussion, the speakers said that the government has taken a strict stance against criminals regarding law and order in Uttar Pradesh. Control of crime, activeness of the police and prompt action at the administrative level were seen to be linked to the change in the law and order situation in the state. Speakers particularly underlined the government’s policy of “zero-tolerance towards crime”.
Former DGP Surya Kumar Shukla described the role of police and administrative will as important in the context of law and order. He also clarified the political pressure on the working style of the police in the previous governments. On the contrary, under the leadership of Yogi ji, while throwing light on the secrets of the law, he also dispelled the rumors spread about bulldozer culture. Also threw light on Yogi ji’s clear intentions and correct development. In his statement he also mentioned Mafia Raj, Operation Romeo. Also, the economic impact of good governance was explained through ambitious schemes like ODOP, MSME etc. On the basis of his work experience as DGP, he called Chief Minister Yogi ji the ‘best police officer’.
Whereas Pratima Lakra discussed the strict stance being adopted in the state from the perspective of law and justice system. He threw special light on women’s safety through good governance, law and order.
Saurabh Akhouri ji gave his statement through 5 pillars – Testimony of Data, Mafia, Operation Conviction, Women Safety Mission Shakti, Reconstruction of Police Force and Technological Leap. During this, he also made a lot of references to the data of NCRB and other institutions. He also described the efforts being made by the government in the field of law and order as positive.
It emerged prominently in the discussion that effective compliance with the law and strict action against criminals is an important condition for good governance in any state. The views of the speakers reflected widespread support for the law and order related policies of the state government. The program also emphasized that improvements in law and order have a direct impact on investment, development and the sense of security among common citizens.
The discussion was organized with the aim of discussing the changes in the law and order of the state and the policies of the government.
