What is Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme?
This scheme is being run by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the main objective of which is to eliminate untouchability and caste discrimination from the society and promote social harmony.

- Financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh: This is the biggest attraction of the scheme. This money helps the new couple to set up their house, start some small business or meet their further needs.

Who can avail the benefit of this scheme? (eligibility)
To avail the benefits of this scheme, certain conditions have to be fulfilled:
- One upper caste, the other Dalit: One of the couple (boy or girl) getting married should belong to the upper caste i.e. general caste and the other should belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC).
- Marriage under Hindu Marriage Act: The marriage should be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955.
- First marriage: This should be the first marriage of both the boy and the girl.
- Income Range: The total annual income of the couple should not exceed Rs 5 lakh.
How to apply? (Application Process)
It is not very difficult to apply for this scheme.
- Marriage Registration: First of all, get your marriage registered in the court.
- Offline Application: You will have to apply for this by going to the office of Social Justice and Empowerment Department of your district.
- Required Documents: Along with the application form, you will have to submit necessary documents like marriage certificate, caste certificate (of both), income certificate, Aadhar card, bank account information and wedding photographs.
After submitting the application, the department will check your documents and if everything is found correct, the scheme amount will be transferred to your Joint Bank Account.
