Government made big changes in pension rules, now it is necessary to fill this form to get pension, know details

Retired employees from all central government offices will now have to fill Form 6-A to get pension. This form can be filled online only through Bhavishya or e-HRMS 2.0 portal. This new rule related to the pension process has come into effect in the country from November 6. Paper applications of employees retiring from Central Government service will no longer be accepted.

According to media reports, this information has been given in a notification by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel Grievances and Pensions, Government of India. Earlier the application for pension could be made on paper but now the employees who are retiring from the central government job will have to fill the online pension form for pension. The new rule is part of a larger move to digitalize government processes.

It is available from November 16 for employees retiring from central government jobs. Notification to this effect was issued on 4 November 2024. The online portal is designed to make the pension process easier and more efficient. Under this change, training is to be provided to the concerned officers to make the pension process run more smoothly.

This training session will help the office heads and nodal officers to understand how to use the new system. Training program will be shared soon. All government ministries and departments have been directed to ensure that this new rule reaches all employees and that everyone follows the new procedure to claim pension.

What is this Pension Form 6-A?
Simplified Pension Form 6-A has been prepared for the convenience of the retiring employee. This form has been prepared by combining six, eight, four, three, A, format 1, format 9, FMA and zero option forms. For this, changes have been made in Rules 53, 57, 58, 59, 60 of CCS Pension Rules 2021. The amendment has been notified after consultation with all stakeholders such as Department of Expenditure, Department of Process and Justice, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Department of Personnel and Training.

Preparation of pension order on the day of re-employment
Pension Form 6A for employees retiring from Central Government service has been integrated on ‘Bhavishya’ or e-HRMS portal. ‘Bhavishya’ portal is an initiative of the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare. Under which an effort has been made to ensure that the retiring government employees get all the outstanding payments and pension payment orders on the day of retirement itself.
