Dhamtari, August 28 (HS). The BJP government has sanctioned crores of rupees for development works in 19 wards of Dhamtari Municipal Corporation, but the Congress councilors of the corporation have accused the government of discriminating and ignoring 21 wards. The Congress councilors allege that funds have been sanctioned only for those wards where BJP councilors are present in the city, while the wards of Congress councilors have been discriminated against, so funds have not been sanctioned.

Congress councillors Rajesh Thakur, Deepak Sonkar, Somesh Meshram, Neelu Pawar, Avaish Hashmi, Kendra Kumar Pendriya etc. have alleged that the truth behind the works for which the Leader of Opposition is making noise about getting approved is something else. Out of the approved amount of crores, work worth Rs. 1.25 crore is from the amount of Rs. 5 crore that was cancelled recently. The amount of Rs. 2 crore received for road construction over the canal is also included. The amount of Rs. 8 crore 75 lakh has been given by the local BJP leaders for the 19 wards of their BJP councillors. Congress councillors have alleged that the people of 21 wards of the city are not from the city. They used to garner votes by making false promises in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

There is resentment among the residents of the 21 wards of the city due to non-approval of funds for development and construction. The residents of the wards allege that if the state government is for everyone, then equal funds should be approved for development and construction in all 40 wards. Politics will not be tolerated in the development and construction of the city. Mayor Vijay Devangan said that work has been divided in all 40 wards of the city. Congress government was in power in the state for five years, but there was no discrimination between Congress-BJP councillors. Equal work was given to all the wards of the city, but as soon as the BJP government came, the discriminatory attitude has come to light. The development of the city will be affected by discrimination. The consequences of discrimination in the development of the city will have to be borne in the future.
