Kathmandu, 14 October (Hindustan Reporter). It has been revealed that the file of the government report prepared on the encroachment by China on the northern border of Nepal has been missing. In the letter sent by the Ministry of External Affairs to the Parliamentary Committee, it has been said that the file of the investigation report is missing. Not only this, all the government employees who prepared this report have been banned from saying anything.
After the issue of border dispute between Nepal and China was raised, in 2021, the government of the then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuva had formed a five-member committee under the chairmanship of Home Ministry Joint Secretary Jayanarayan Acharya for investigation. This committee had visited the Nepal-China borders for three months and prepared a report based on it and submitted it to the government, but that report was never made public. Now when the file of that report is being searched, the report itself is said to be missing. A few days ago, the International Relations Committee of the Parliament called the Foreign Minister and asked about the report related to Nepal-China border, then the Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Deuva had asked to find out about it and give information to the Parliamentary Committee. Now, in the letter sent by the Ministry of External Affairs to the Parliamentary Committee on Monday, it has been said that the file of the investigation report is missing.
Chairman of the committee Rajkishore Yadav said that today itself a letter is being sent to the Foreign Minister asking him to present himself in the parliamentary committee and reply on this issue. He said how can the government be so insensitive. Committee Chairman Yadav said that this is a big conspiracy. It is well known about China's encroachment on Nepal's border, but it is shameful that the report itself is missing from the government documents.
Jayanarayan Acharya, who was the convenor of the inquiry committee, is the chief district officer of Kathmandu in the current Oli government. When asked about this report, Acharya refused to comment. A member of this committee, on the condition of anonymity, said that he has been banned by the government from saying anything about this report in public or in the media. A written order has been given for this.
