The central government has lifted the 58-year-old 'ban' on government employees participating in the activities of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Government employees will now be able to participate in RSS activities, the order said, “The above instructions have been reviewed and it has been decided to delete the mention of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh from the relevant Office Memorandums dated 30 November 1966, 25 July 1970 and 28 October 1980.”

will be a government employee

On the other hand, Congress has strongly opposed this decision of the central government. Congress has strongly criticized the decision issued by the central government on Sunday, in which the six-decade-old ban on participating in the activities of RSS has been lifted.

Congress general secretary (communications) Jairam Ramesh wrote in a post, “After Gandhi's assassination in February 1948, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel banned the RSS, but the ban was lifted on assurance of good conduct. Even after this, the RSS never hoisted the tricolor in Nagpur. In 1966, government employees participating in RSS activities were banned – and it was the right decision.

There is an official order issued in 1966 to impose this ban. After June 4, 2024, the relationship between the Prime Minister and the RSS soured. On July 9, 2024, the 58-year ban imposed during the Prime Ministership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee was also lifted. I believe that bureaucracy can now come in shorts as well.
