Mumbai, 16 December (HS). Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that the government is committed to prevent bus accidents in the state including Mumbai. The BEST bus accident in Mumbai is serious and the state government has taken cognizance of it. Measures are being taken to prevent such incidents.
Chief Minister Fadnavis said in the Legislative Council in Nagpur on Monday that the driver of BEST bus is being investigated after the BEST bus accident. After this incident, surprise inspection has been started. CM Fadnavis said that a demand for 1300 buses has been registered for purchasing new buses in BEST undertaking and these will soon be purchased and handed over to BEST undertaking. The Commissioner of Mumbai Municipal Corporation has been instructed to prepare a plan after getting information about these BEST buses.
On Monday, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve raised the issue of death of 8 people and injuries to 41 passengers in the bus accident in Kurla, Mumbai and demanded effective action from the government to stop bus accidents.
