SIM Card Close: The government has taken major action against Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL SIM card users. The government has blocked about 1.7 crore SIM cards of all these telecom operators, which were issued through fake Aadhaar cards and other documents. Let us tell you that in India, SIM cards are issued on a large scale on fake documents, which the government is verifying and blocking. In such a situation, you should also know that your SIM card should not be issued on someone else's document. If this happens then your SIM card may also be blocked.

Major action against those using SIM cards on fake documents

1.77 crore mobile connections purchased with fake or forged documents are being blocked with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) based tools. Apart from this, four Telecom Service Operators (TSPs) working with the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) have blocked 45 lakh fake international calls from reaching the Indian telecom network.

Freeze 11 lakh accounts

The Communications Ministry said in a statement that banks and payment wallets have frozen about 11 lakh accounts, which were taken on the basis of fake documents. The government says that in the coming days, other such SIM cards will also be blocked. Action on fake international calls

  • To tackle the growing menace of fraudulent international calls, the Department of Telecommunications has launched a new system to identify and block these calls before they reach Indian users. This system is being launched in two phases.
  • Under the first phase, those calls which are sending false marketing calls and messages are being blocked.
  • Under the second phase, fake calls coming from numbers of any Indian telecom operator will be blocked. This work will be done at the central, nationwide level.

71 thousand sim agents banned

  • According to the report, 77.61 lakh mobile connections have been disconnected in excess of the limit of SIM cards issued per person.
  • 2.29 lakh mobile phones involved in cyber crime or fraud have been blocked.
  • Out of 21.03 lakh mobile phones stolen or lost, 12.02 lakh have been traced.
  • 20,000 entities, 32,000 SMS headers and 2 lakh SMS templates involved in sending malicious SMS have been disconnected.
  • 11 lakh bank accounts and payment wallets linked to disconnected mobile connections have been frozen.
  • Around 11 lakh WhatsApp accounts linked to disconnected connections have been locked.
  • 71,000 points of sale (SIM agents) have been blacklisted.
  • 365 FIRs have been registered in various states and union territories in the case of fake SIM cards.

How many SIM cards are registered with your Aadhar card?

  • The Department of Telecommunications has released a portal through which you can find out how many SIMs are running in your name.
  • For this you will first have to go to tafcop.sancharsaathi.gov.in.
  • Here you have to enter your mobile number.
  • After this you will get an OTP, enter it.
  • Then you will get all the information about how many numbers are linked to your ID.

  • Visit Sanchar Saathi portal or sancharsaathi.gov.in and click.
  • After this go to Citizen Centric Services and click on Chakshu option.
  • After this a review disclaimer will appear. After this click on Continue for Reporting.

  • After this, to verify the personal details, it has to be verified with the official number.
  • After this click on the submit button.
