Got the ticket at the last moment, after 13 days of campaigning this candidate from Maharashtra won by a margin of just 48 votes

Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: The results of the Lok Sabha elections are almost clear. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (Shinde group) candidate Ravindra Waikar has won the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat by just 48 votes. This is the lowest margin of victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to Election Commission data, Waikar got 4,52,644 lakh votes from the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat, while his rival Shiv Sena (Uddhav group) candidate Amol Kirtikar got 4,52,596 votes.

When asked about defeating his opponent by about 48 votes in the Mumbai North West seat, Waikar said, “In democracy, every vote has value. Vajpayee government fell by one vote. I said I will fight and win. Now I have won. I have taken a vow to serve Maharashtra, Mumbai and the country.” I said that whatever path God will give me, that is to win. If I have to win, then I have to do good work after winning. Now good work is left to be done.”

Waikar, an MLA from Jogeshwari East seat in Mumbai, had joined the Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav group) earlier this year. His candidature from the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha seat was also announced at the last minute.

In the initial trends of counting of votes, both the candidates were leading on this seat at different times. Meanwhile, there came a time when Kirtikar was ahead by almost one vote. Shiv Sena (Uddhav Group) President Uddhav Thackeray expressed apprehension of irregularities in the counting of votes and said that 'our party is thinking of challenging these results.'
