Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway: Entry of 3 new villages of Mehdawal tehsil, now 32 villages will become part of the expressway; Know the big benefits to farmers

Gorakhpur Panipat Expressway Route Update: A big and important news is coming out related to the very ambitious Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway project connecting Uttar Pradesh to Haryana. Under this greenfield project, a major change has been made in the route of Mehndawal tehsil of Sant Kabirnagar district.

Expanding the scope of this expressway, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has also officially included three new villages of Mehdawal tehsil – Soharwalia, Mishraulia Mishra and Mayla – in this mega-project. Before this administrative decision, 29 villages of Mehndawal tehsil were coming in the route of this expressway, but now after the entry of these 3 new villages, the total number of villages becoming a part of the expressway has increased to 32.

Construction of inter-section will provide excellent connectivity to 20 villages.

NHAI has a very strategic and practical thinking behind bringing these three new villages under the expressway:

  • Construction of special inter-section: The highway authority has decided that a state-of-the-art inter-section will be built within the limits of these three newly incorporated villages, which will be the main point of entry and exit on the expressway.

  • Benefit to the surrounding areas: With the opening of this inter-section facility, not only the residents of these 3 villages will get direct benefit, but the people of about 15 to 20 other rural areas located in their neighborhood will also not have to take long journeys to reach the expressway.

The fortunes of local farmers will shine; Agriculture and trade will gain momentum

The biggest and direct benefit of this new inter-section being built on the expressway is going to be to the local rural economy and farmers:

  1. Access to mandis will be easy: Till now, due to narrow roads, farmers had to waste a lot of time and heavy fares in taking their crops and green vegetables to big mandis. After direct connection with the expressway, there will be a huge reduction in both transportation cost and time.

  2. Will get better prices for crops: Due to timely and direct connection with high speed route, farmers will be able to sell their agricultural products in the big markets of Delhi-NCR and Haryana in a very short time, due to which they will be able to get accurate and higher prices for their produce.

Administrative preparation for land acquisition and compensation distribution

Mehndawal Tehsil Administration is working fast to get this big project off the ground on time:

  • GATA verification work completed: In the 29 villages included earlier, the Revenue Department has successfully completed all the necessary legal processes like marking of fields, exact matching of area and verification of ownership of the land.

  • Physical Verification and Compensation: The administration has now started preparations to start physical verification of all these identified lands. As soon as this ground survey is completed, the file for acquisition of land of the affected farmers and distribution of appropriate government compensation to them will be moved forward rapidly.
