Dehradun, 16 November (HS). A canter (goods vehicle) overturned off the road on a deep slope near Niglat in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and the driver got injured after getting stuck in the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was going towards Bageshwar carrying goods from Haldwani. However, in an overnight rescue operation, SDRF cut the cabin, pulled out the driver safely and took him to the hospital.
Late on Friday night at 1 am, SDRF received information from Khairna post of Nainital district that a Canter vehicle (UK04CC3460) had met with an accident near Niglat. As soon as the information was received, the rescue team led by Additional Sub Inspector Ravi Rawat from SDRF Post Khairna immediately left for the spot. Keeping in mind the extremely adverse conditions, the SDRF team started the rescue with all necessary equipment. The team assessed the situation as soon as it reached the spot. The operation was extremely challenging due to the pitch of night, deep slopes and the vehicle being badly damaged.
The team carefully cut the cabin of the vehicle with the help of cutters and other equipment and safely pulled out the injured driver trapped inside. The injured driver was immediately taken to the nearest hospital by ambulance. The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Dayal Singh, son of Dham Singh, resident of Bankot district, Bageshwar.
