Rewa, 16 May (Hindustan Reporter). State Agriculture Production Commissioner SN Mishra reviewed horticulture, animal husbandry, milk union, fisheries and MP Agro in Rewa on Thursday. On this occasion, he said that very good work has been done in fruit and vegetable production in Rewa division. The division ranks second in vegetable production and third in fruit production in the state. After grains, fruit and vegetable production is providing maximum income and employment opportunities to the farmers.
He said that along with fruits and vegetables, special attention should be paid to area expansion of flowers and spices. These provide good benefits at low cost. Cages are being used successfully for fish farming in Sidhi district. Fish farming should be done through cages in other districts of the division also. Collectors should make long term plans for the development of farming and other related businesses. Regularly review the implementation of horticulture related schemes. There is a need for a big campaign to expand the area of horticultural crops. Collectors should select one or two crops and try to connect as many farmers as possible with them. Provide proper facilities to the farmers for marketing of fruits, vegetables and spices.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Mishra said that there is immense potential for fish farming in the division. Fish farming should be made mandatory in all perennial reservoirs. Large irrigation dams can also produce fish in good quantities. The number of milch animals in the division is sufficient. Run a campaign for their breed improvement. Make special efforts to increase milk production and collection. Build new milk routes and form milk cooperative societies. Make the pending payments of cooperative societies immediately. Aera system is a big problem in the division. To overcome this, ensure active operation of cow shelters. Make arrangements to keep destitute cows in a large area like Basaman Mama Cow Sanctuary. In these, units like power generation from cow dung gas plant should also be operated. Commendable efforts are being made to protect the destitute cattle in Mauganj district.
Agriculture Production Commissioner said that Sanchi parlors should be established at major public places in all the districts for the sale of Sanchi brand products of Milk Union. Collectors should regularly review the departmental activities of agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries and milk union. Very good production of fruits and vegetables is taking place in Rewa and Satna districts. Efforts should be made to increase fruit and vegetable production in Sidhi and Singrauli districts also. Issue Kisan Credit Cards to fish farmers and livestock farmers. The Collector should review it regularly in the District Bankers Advisory Committee.
MP Agro's schemes were also reviewed in the meeting. In the meeting, Rewa Collector Pratibha Pal requested to arrange a watchman for the successful operation of the cow shelters and to approve the three proposed cow sanctuaries from the district. Principal Secretary Cooperative Deepali Rastogi, Commissioner Rewa Division Gopal Chandra Dad, Director Horticulture SB Singh, Director Milk Union S Satish Kumar, Collectors of all the districts of the division, Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat and departmental officers were present in the meeting.
