Patna's Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport will be connected to the metro. To facilitate movement at the airport, the road from Patel Chowk to Airport Chowk will be widened and an underpass will be constructed. The drains will be paved and a four-lane road will also be constructed from Patel Chowk to Eco Park. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave instructions to the officials in this regard. The Chief Minister inspected the under-construction terminal of the airport on Wednesday. He also took detailed information about the expansion work of the airport.
In the review meeting, Airport Authority of India Chairman Suresh Kumar informed the Chief Minister about the master plan for the expansion of the airport. He said that the airport will be ready in a new form by January next year. He said that like other modern airports in the country, Patna airport terminal is also being developed. The target has been set to complete the construction of the airport development project being built at a cost of Rs 1400 crore within the next five months. Currently, the airport has a parking facility for five airplanes. It is being increased to 11. The current capacity of the airport is 30 lakh passengers per year, which is being increased to about one crore passengers per year.
Aero bridges are being built for the arrival and departure of passengers. At the same time, the Chief Minister said that all the necessary work is being done during the expansion for better facilities at Patna Airport. Whatever help is needed from the state government for the expansion work of the airport, it will be given. The CM said that better arrangements should be made for drainage from the airport premises and connectivity with the airport should be improved, so that people can reach here in the shortest time. Complete the work of all parts like new terminal building, multi-level parking and access path etc. with excellent quality.
