School Holidays 2024: There is good news for school students. In Punjab, holiday has been declared in government and non-government schools on the occasion of Panchayat elections on October 15 and Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti on October 17. Due to the construction of the same training centre, October 14 has also been declared a holiday in some schools. Due to Sunday being a weekly holiday, October 20 and October 27 will be public holidays across the country.
Apart from this, schools, colleges and government offices will remain closed in states like Karnataka, Assam and Himachal Pradesh on October 17 on the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti and Kati Bihu. There will be a holiday in Jammu and Kashmir on the occasion of Merger Day on 26th October. Here, there will be a holiday in schools in many states on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day/Goverdhan Puja on 2nd November, second Saturday on 9th November and Guru Nanak Jayanti on 15th November.
Know when and where schools will be closed
In Chhattisgarh, all schools will remain closed due to Dhanteras on 29 October, Narak Chaudas on 30 October, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja on 31 October, Govardhan Puja on 1 November and Bhai Dooj on 2 November.
Schools will remain closed in Odisha from 20 to 29 October.
In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan also, all schools will remain closed on the occasion of Dussehra, Diwali, Dhanteras, Narak Chaudas, Diwali, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj.
In Bihar, schools will remain closed on 20 October Sunday, 27 October Sunday, 29 October Dhanteras, 30 October Narak Chaudas, 31 October Diwali or Lakshmi Puja, 1 November Govardhan Puja and 2 November Bhai Dooj.
In Jharkhand, government schools will remain closed due to Dhanteras on 29 October, Narak Chaudas on 30 October, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja on 31 October, Govardhan Puja on 1 November, Bhai Dooj on 2 November and Chhath on 6 November.
Karnataka Public Education Department has officially announced Dussehra holidays for students in government and private schools for the academic year 2024-25, with holidays scheduled till October 20, giving students a total of 17 days.
In UP too, schools will remain closed due to Narak Chaturdashi on 30 October, Diwali on 31 October, Govardhan Puja on 2 November, Bhai Dooj on 3 November, Guru Nanak Jayanti on 15 November, Guru Tegh Bahadur Jayanti on 24 November and Christmas. 25 December.
