The Thai government has decided to allow visa-free travel for two months to promote tourism. This policy of the Thai government issued keeping tourism in mind includes 93 countries including India. Thailand's tourism industry has been facing challenges since the COVID-19 pandemic. To deal with this, Thailand has implemented new measures to attract tourists from all over the world. These methods mainly include relaxation in visa rules.
Recent decisions include allowing workers, graduate students and retirees from other countries to stay longer. The Thai government hopes this will strengthen the economy. This decision of the Thai government will come into effect from next month, allowing travelers from 93 countries to visit Thailand for a period of 60 days.
In addition, workers from other countries will benefit from an extended visa period of five years, allowing 180 days per stay. Known for its affordable prices and beautiful islands, Thailand has long been a popular tourist destination for travelers from around the world.
In the year 2023 itself, 2.45 crore foreign tourists arrived in Thailand. The Thai government has set a target of attracting 25 to 30 lakh tourists annually. Along with the capital Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai as well as the historical cities of Ayutthaya and Sukhothai are major tourist destinations. A large number of Indian tourists arrive in Thailand every year.
