According to information received from sources, the Urban Development Ministry has sent the draft note and guidelines to the Cabinet. Our colleague Alok Priyadarshi, who has special information on this, told that the middle class will benefit from the increase in the scope of this scheme. He said that it is possible to increase the credit linked subsidy to Rs 50 lakh. This means that under this scheme, interest can be waived on houses up to Rs 50 lakh. Currently, under this scheme, waived is available on houses up to Rs 45 lakh.

Under this Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the urban class will get a discount in the interest rate. This discount in interest rates will be between 3-6.5 percent. In the new scheme, the government aims to build 1 crore houses. In this scheme, the definition of middle class has been relaxed to some extent. Due to which efforts are being made to benefit more and more beneficiaries. The new scheme is likely to get all the necessary approvals in 2 to 3 months.

Now all approvals will be given through a single window system. With the single window system, the applicant will not need to visit banks and different sites. This will provide all the facilities to the applicant at one place.

The Urban Development Ministry has sent the draft and guidelines in this regard. The draft and guidelines have been sent to the Cabinet. Let us tell you that in this budget, Rs 2.2 lakh crore has been allocated for 5 years for PMAY-U.
