Good Friday Bank Holiday: Banks will remain closed in many states on March 29 on the occasion of Good Friday as it is an important holiday in the Christian calendar. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) holiday list, this bank closure will result in a total of 14 days of bank holidays in March 2024. These holidays include Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, public holidays and various regional holidays. However, regional holidays are decided by states and may vary across the country.
Good Friday 2024: Banks not closed in these states
Banks remain closed in all states except Tripura, Assam, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Srinagar on Good Friday. However, in all other states, banks will remain closed for Good Friday.
As per RBI holiday calendar, banks are closed for Chapchar Kut, Shivratri, Bihar Day, Holi (2nd day) – Dhuleti/Dol Jatra/Dhulandi, Yaosang 2nd day/Holi, Holi and Good Friday in March 2024.
Will banks remain open on 31st March?
The Reserve Bank of India said that since the financial year ends on March 31, the Center has requested all bank branches handling government receipts and payments to remain open for business on March 31.
