The dream of buying a house in Delhi at affordable rates can now come true. Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has offered up to 25% discount on purchasing a home under the Affordable Home Scheme. However, this benefit is not for everyone, but for certain categories of citizens.

This scheme has been approved by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena. The objective of the scheme is to provide houses at affordable rates to the economically weaker sections (EWS) and the needy.

DDA Affordable Housing Scheme: Eligibility and Exemptions

Under the scheme, a special discount of 25% will be given to certain categories of people. These people can avail the benefits of the scheme:

  • construction worker.
  • Auto and taxi drivers.
  • Women.
  • Veer Naariyan (widows of military personnel).
  • dogs of War.
  • Gallantry and Arjuna Award Winner.
  • Disabled people.
  • Scheduled Caste/Tribe (SC/ST) people.

Special camps are being organized in Delhi

To increase awareness about the scheme and benefit maximum people, DDA has organized special camps at various places in Delhi.

Where are the camps being organized?

  • At Delhi Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board places.
  • At construction sites like DMRC, NCRTC, CPWD and NHAI.

Objective:

  • To provide benefits of the scheme to laborers, workers and slum dwellers.

Special outreach programs for target groups

DDA has started awareness programs to extend the benefits of the scheme to every eligible person.

Role of Major Departments:

  1. Rajya Sainik Board:
    • Will organize programs for Veer Nariyaans, ex-servicemen and award winners.
  2. Transport Department:
    • Will organize camps for auto and taxi drivers at ARU/VIU centers located at Burari.
  3. Delhi SC/ST Finance and Development Corporation:
    • Will provide loan facility to SC/ST applicants.
  4. Women and Child Development Department:
    • Will organize camps for women, street vendors and disabled people.

Role of DDA and camp operations

  • DDA officials will be present at each camp site.
  • Information and forms related to the scheme will be made available.
  • All departments will have to submit their reports to the Chief Secretary within 15 days.
  • The report will be presented for review by the Lieutenant Governor.
