For lakhs of youth and B.Ed holders who are dreaming of becoming teachers in government schools of Uttar Pradesh, a very wonderful and big good news has come from the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board. Uttar Pradesh PGT Notification 2026 (UP PGT Notification 2026) has been officially released for the eligible candidates who have been waiting for teacher recruitment in the state for a long time, under which direct recruitment will be done on a total of 2607 posts of Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) in various subjects. The biggest and special feature of this recruitment process is that there is no requirement for the candidates to pass any kind of teacher eligibility test i.e. TET or CTET to apply for it, which will directly benefit those lakhs of postgraduate youth who want to become teachers only on the basis of their post graduation and B.Ed degree. Since the arrival of this notification, there is a huge excitement among the education world of Uttar Pradesh and the youth preparing for government jobs, and eligible candidates have started strengthening their preparations so that they can secure a seat on this prestigious government post.
It is mandatory for the candidates applying for these 2607 posts issued by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Service Selection Board to have a master’s degree i.e. Post Graduation in the relevant subject. Along with this, B.Ed or equivalent teaching training degree for many subjects has also been included in the eligibility criteria, details of which are given in the release issued on the official website of the Board. Talking about the age limit, eligible candidates from minimum 21 years to the prescribed upper age limit can apply for this recruitment, in which reserved category candidates will also be given special relaxation in the maximum age limit as per the rules of the state government. The selection process will be completed mainly through written examination and merit list prepared on its basis, in which special care will be taken of transparency and fairness so that only eligible and meritorious youth are selected.
Generally, in most of the states and Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country, it has been made mandatory to pass eligibility tests like TET or CTET to become a teacher, due to which many qualified postgraduate youth were not able to apply even if they wanted to. But there has been a special tradition of PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) i.e. Lecturer recruitment in secondary schools of Uttar Pradesh that only Post Graduation and B.Ed degree in the relevant subject is considered the main qualification for teaching higher secondary classes i.e. class 11th and 12th. This time also, due to the exemption to apply without TET, lakhs of freshers and experienced candidates have got a direct and golden opportunity who want to become government teachers only on the basis of their subject expertise. This is the reason that the number of candidates applying this time can break all the records of the last several years, due to which there will be tough competition in this examination.
Under the existing reservation rules and constitutional provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Government, complete transparency of reservation is being maintained in the recruitment process of 2607 posts, the 7 main points of which are as follows. The first thing is that a certain percentage of total posts have been reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates as per the rules. Secondly, seats have also been reserved for Scheduled Tribe (ST) category candidates under the provisioned quota. The third important thing is that eligible candidates of Other Backward Classes (OBC) will get the full benefit of reservation based on the list of the state government. Fourthly, provision of 10 percent reservation has been ensured for the economically weaker section i.e. general category youth of EWS category. Fifthly, certain seats have been reserved for women candidates under the rules of Horizontal Reservation so that the participation of women can be encouraged. Sixthly, special relaxation and seats have been fixed for candidates belonging to the Disabled (PwD) category on the basis of physical fitness and percentage of disability. And the seventh and last important thing is that the benefit of horizontal reservation as per rules for dependents of freedom fighters and ex-servicemen will also be fully applicable in this recruitment process.
The online application process for Uttar Pradesh PGT Recruitment 2026 has been started through the official portal, and candidates are advised to have all their required documents ready like educational certificate, caste certificate, residence certificate and passport size photo before the last date. It is very important to read the advertised instructions carefully to avoid any kind of error while filling the application form so that there is no possibility of the form getting rejected. Regarding exam preparation, experts believe that having a deep grip on your main subject as per the syllabus and solving previous years’ question papers is the biggest key to success. This opportunity to become a government teacher directly without the hassle of any TET is no less than a boon for those youth who have worked hard in their higher education, and preparation done with full sincerity will definitely take them to the pinnacle of success.
