Gold worth Rs 31 lakh was recovered from a passenger coming from Sharjah, Customs Department recovered it during investigation


Amritsar : The Customs Department has recovered 482 grams of pure gold from a passenger coming from Sharjah at Sri Guru Amardas International Airport on Saturday. The price of this gold is Rs 31.33 lakh. This gold was wrapped around the left leg of a passenger coming from Sharjah, which was recovered by the Customs Department during investigation.

According to the information, on Saturday the department received information about Air India flight IX-198 that a passenger had brought gold. When the department officials checked the passengers, the said gold was recovered from one of the passengers. The gold department has taken possession and started necessary action.

Let us tell you that the incidents of gold smuggling from Dubai are continuously increasing. The Customs Department has recovered gold for the second time in the last five days. Earlier on March 5, Customs had recovered 449 grams of gold worth Rs 29 lakh from a passenger who had come from Dubai by Spice Jet flight.
