Gold in Islam: There are two basic principles in Islam, Haram and Halal, which every Muslim strictly follows. You must be knowing that in Islam, men are prohibited from wearing gold jewellery. For them, it is equal to Haram. Wearing a gold ring or chain is also strictly prohibited. But women in Islam are exempted from these rules. Women can wear as much gold jewellery as they want. Men are allowed to wear gold in heaven.
What is the reason behind this?
Prophet Muhammad, the symbol of Islam, said that men should not use two things, first gold and second clothes made of silk. Both things are permissible for Islamic women. However, men can wear silver jewelry instead of gold.
When asked about this, a Maulana associated with the mosque of Delhi Waqf Board said that in Islam, men are forbidden from wearing gold because our Prophet Muhammad has said so. This is a haraam act for those who are followers of Prophet Muhammad. Women are completely exempted from these rules. Because of the orders of the Prophet, we follow his orders.
Earlier kings used to use gold ornaments to humiliate others. They used to eat in gold utensils. To avoid all these inequalities, he issued an order for men which every person accepting Islam has to follow. Gold is a very precious metal, wearing it is inauspicious, due to which crimes like theft and death are seen every day.
Islamic law (Sharia) also prohibits the use of gold for men. Gold is only acceptable in paradise, because there will be no discrimination in paradise. All people will be equal. There will be no ego. According to Sharia, only men can wear gold in paradise in Islam.
