Crude oil prices appeared to be under pressure in global markets amid speculations of Saudi Arabia increasing production. Meanwhile, the dollar rose by 9 paise to Rs 83.80 against the rupee in the Mumbai currency market today. Market sources said that the rupee retreated in the currency market after the fall in the stock market.

The British pound rose by 22 paise to Rs 112.24 against the rupee, while the European currency euro rose by 35 paise to Rs 93.77. Currency market sources said that Japan's currency rose by 0.14 percent against the rupee today, while China's currency was up by 0.06 percent.
