GOC 61 Sub Area flagged off 'Rashtriya Riders-RR' Motorcycle Expedition from Jaipur to Drass

Jaipur, July 16 (HS). Major General RS Godara, General Officer Commanding, 61 Sub Area, flagged off the 'Rashtriya Riders-RR' motorcycle expedition to commemorate 25 years of Kargil Vijay Diwas from Vijay Dwar of Jaipur Military Station on Tuesday.

Army spokesperson Colonel Amitabh Sharma said that the purpose of this yatra is to honor the heroes of the Kargil war and express the heartfelt gratitude of the countrymen for the sacrifice and valor of the brave soldiers of the Indian Army. A total of 14 groups are participating in this rally. They will cover a distance of about 4000 kilometers in a period of sixteen days through Jaipur-Ambala-Manali-Sarchu-Leh-Partapur-Siachen Base Camp-Nubra Valley-Pangong-Rezang La-Tagtse-Durbuk-Leh-Drass-Srinagar-Udhampur-Pathankot-Hisar-Jaipur.

The expedition team is carrying messages of gratitude expressed through letters and cards made by children from various schools including many differently abled children, the messages collected through the expedition in Jaipur and Chandigarh will be dedicated to the Drass War Memorial, Kargil. Himmat Singh Shekhawat, Admin of Rashtriya Riders has also written a book on Indian Army named “Tiger of Drass” which is based on Kargil war and has the story of Mahavir Chakra winner Captain Anuj Nayyar. He has dedicated the royalty of this book for the welfare of the armed forces.
