Global wings for Bihar’s cultural and historical heritage: Mithila Sanskrit Research Institute to partner with Oxford University.

After the special efforts of state Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and senior JDU leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, a very big and historic decision has been taken regarding the famous ‘Mithila Sanskrit Research Institute’ located in Darbhanga. The Bihar government has given official approval to the proposal to connect this prestigious institute with Britain’s Oxford University, which is ranked among the most prestigious educational institutions in the world. After this international academic collaboration, the way has been completely paved for study and research on the ancient manuscripts of Mithila, Vedic texts and Sanskrit literature on a global level by big researchers and scholars from all over the world.

Ancient manuscripts and Vedic texts will be studied digitally and globally.

Thousands of rare ancient manuscripts, palm leaves and priceless Sanskrit texts are preserved in the Mithila Sanskrit Research Institute located in Darbhanga. Under this tie-up with Oxford University, these ancient heritages will be conserved, modernized and their access will be made very easy for global researchers. Through modern technology and academic collaboration, the historical material present here will be taken to every corner of the world, which will give new life and global recognition to the ancient Indian knowledge tradition.
