In a relief to passengers traveling to and from Punjab, especially NRIs, Indigo Airlines, which currently operates four daily flights between Delhi and Amritsar, has added an additional flight on the route till February 29. Demand for flights to Delhi has increased, especially from Amritsar's Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji International Airport, which is Punjab's largest and busiest airport.
This new IndiGo flight, 6E2324, departs from Delhi airport at 12:45 pm and reaches Amritsar at 2 pm. The return flight, 6E2325, departs from Amritsar at 2:45 pm and reaches Delhi at 4 pm. Booking for this flight is available on IndiGo's website.
Despite the inclusion of this flight, demand and fares for flights between Delhi and Amritsar remain high due to the ongoing farmers' protests. Many travelers to or from Punjab, especially those coming to Delhi on international flights, are avoiding road travel by buses or taxis to avoid road and traffic jams.
Smip Singh Gumtala, Global Coordinator of Fly Amritsar Initiative, welcomed the addition of this flight and said that with the addition of this flight till February 29, the total number of direct flights between Delhi and Amritsar including IndiGo has increased to 11 daily. “We hope other Indian airlines, including Air India, will soon add more flights and lower fares,” he said.
