Give two-thirds majority to amend the Constitution: BJP MP Hegde

Addressing a public meeting, BJP MP Ananth Kumar Hegde said the BJP needs a two-thirds majority in both houses of Parliament to amend the Constitution and correct the distortions and unnecessary provisions made by the Congress. Ananth Kumar Hegde, a six-time Lok Sabha MP from Karnataka, said that if the Constitution has to be amended, the party will have to come to power in more than 20 states. It is noteworthy that even before this Ananthkumar had talked about amending the Constitution. His statement has created a political uproar.

Addressing the public meeting, Ananthkumar said that Congress has distorted the Constitution from its original form. Especially such a law whose purpose is to suppress the Hindu society. We don't have enough of a majority to change all this. If you give us two-thirds majority in the next Lok Sabha elections, we will change it. Anantkumar Hegde said that if Congress' numbers increase in the Rajya Sabha, then any constitutional amendment made by the BJP government will not be passed in the Parliament. He said in the public meeting that this time only 400 have been crossed. We have two-thirds majority in the Lok Sabha, but not in the Rajya Sabha.

Preparation to amend CAA

Giving the example of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, Ananthkumar said that it was passed in the Lok Sabha and later in the Rajya Sabha. But many state governments have not approved it, so it cannot be implemented. Now the government is planning to implement it through amendment. Otherwise law and order will slip out of hand and anti-nationals will get free hand.
