After hijacking Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah, pirates have demanded a ransom of $5 million for the release of 25 crew members.

Recently a Bangladeshi flagged ship was hijacked by pirates. The pirates took the ship to Somalia. 25 crew members of the cargo ship are still in the custody of Somali pirates. His family has sought help from the government for his release.

Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean captured the ship and took it to the coast of Somalia. This merchant ship was carrying 55,000 tons of coal. The ship is owned by a Bangladeshi company.

In 2010 also, a Bangladeshi cargo ship was targeted by Somali pirates. 26 crew members were taken hostage after the ship named MV Jahan Moni was hijacked. The pirates demanded millions of dollars for their ransom and freed the crew members after 100 days.

When the MV Abdullah ship was hijacked last week, the Indian Navy responded immediately to its call for help. However, by then the pirates had fled with the ship. Indian Navy says that we are keeping an eye on this ship.

The Navy recently rescued another ship from the clutches of pirates and arrested 35 pirates.
