Ghaziabad: A woman and her male friend have been arrested for sexually assaulting the woman's minor daughter in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh. The mother tortured her 10-year-old daughter and even considered forcing her into prostitution to hide the repeated rapes. The man involved not only sexually abused the young girl, but also subjected her 13-year-old brother to similar activities.
Unable to bear the pain any longer, the daughter ran away from her Ghaziabad residence on January 20 and was later found wandering on the streets of Delhi. Fortunately, he was rescued by the Delhi Police and kept under the care of the Child Welfare Committee. Medical examination confirmed the girl's story, which revealed that she was a victim of sexual assault.
The victim told the police that after her father's death four years ago, she and her brother were living with their maternal grandparents. Last year, the mother transferred him to Ghaziabad, where horrific abuse took place, causing his brother to run away from home due to trauma.
The girl said she left home when she learned that her mother was involved in prostitution after her father's death and she wanted to push her into the trade when she grew up.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (Loni) Bhaskar Sharma said, “The girl has identified her rapist as Raju, a resident of Delhi. Even after she went missing on January 20, the mother did not lodge a missing complaint. The victim said that her mother and Raju used to torture her to hide the crime and used to threaten her using tongs to ensure that she did not tell anyone about it. Both have been arrested.”
