Ghazal emperor Pankaj Udhas given farewell with political honours, Bollywood celebs paid tribute

Ghazal emperor Pankaj Udhas has merged into Panchatattva. He died yesterday. He has said goodbye to the world at the age of 72. Today his mortal remains were brought home from the hospital. There he was given farewell with political honours. His mortal remains were wrapped in the tricolour. Then he was kept for the last darshan. At 3 o'clock in the afternoon his mortal remains were placed in a truck decorated with flowers. A large photo frame of his was also placed on top of the truck. After this the truck moved towards the crematorium.

The funeral of Pankaj Udhas was attended by his family members and artists and actors from the music industry. Many celebs including Shankar Mahadevan, Anup Jalota, Sonu Nigam, Sunil Gavaskar, Vidya Balan, Anand participated in it. Veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar also attended the funeral of Pankaj Udhas.

The last rites of ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas were performed at the Hindu cremation ground in Worli. The mortal remains of Pankaj Udhas were given a final farewell. He was given a guard of honour.

Pankaj Udhas was born on 17 May 1951 in Jetpur, Gujarat. Apart from ghazals, he was also known for his film songs. He gained popularity in 1980 with his ghazal album 'Aahat'. Later he sang songs in many films like 'Naam', 'Mukraar', 'Tarannum' and 'Mehfil'.
