Berlin, June 24 (HS). Nicolas Fulkrug's last-minute goal helped hosts Germany draw 1-1 with Switzerland on Sunday to enter the last 16 round of Euro 2024 as Group A winners.
Germany had already won two games in two and needed just one point to win the group.
Switzerland started the match well and in the 28th minute of the match, Remo Freuler passed the ball to Dan Ndoye, who put the ball into the goal post and gave the team a 1-0 lead.
Ndoye had a chance to double Switzerland's lead moments later but missed from 16 metres. Switzerland led 1-0 at half-time.
After the interval, Germany regained possession of the ball and tried to come back into the match. In the 84th minute, Switzerland got another chance to score, but Ruben Vargas' goal was ruled offside.
Germany kept trying and were rewarded in the final moments of the match when Fulkrug converted David Raum's cross to level the match at 1-1. With this draw, Germany entered the last 16 round of Euro 2024 as Group A winners.
Germany topped Group A with 7 points, followed by Switzerland (5 points), Hungary (3 points) and Scotland (1 point).
