German Cup football: Bayern Munich beat Ulm 4-0 in first round | News India

Berlin, August 17 (HS). Thomas Muller's two goals helped Bayern Munich beat lower league team Ulm 4-0 in the first round of the German Cup late Friday night.

Ulm played with a purpose against the German giants and came close to scoring within the first five minutes. Maurice Krattenmacher had the best chance of the game after Bayern failed to clear a free kick in the box, but his shot went wide.

Germany opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Joshua Kimmich passed the ball to Muller, who made no mistake and scored the first goal from eight metres. Muller scored the second goal just two minutes later to increase Germany's lead to 2-0.

Germany was leading 2-0 till the half-time. After the half-time, Kingsley Coman (79th minute) and Harry Kane (90+3) scored goals to give Germany a 4-0 win.

In other matches, Hoffenheim beat Würzburger Kickers 5–3 on penalties, Mainz beat Wehen Wiesbaden 3–1 and St. Pauli beat Hallerscher FC 3–2 in extra time.
