Kathua, August 10 (HS). Government Degree College Kathua organized inter-college competition in four categories singing, quiz, essay and painting competitions to celebrate 77th year of independence.
The entire programme was organized by the NSS and NCC units of the college under the patronage of the college Principal Professor Seema Mir. The programme started with lighting of the lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana. Professor Sanjay Karlupia, Head of the Department of Geology was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The formal welcome address was delivered by Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Head of the Urdu Department. He formally welcomed all the participants and guests from various colleges. Students from colleges of district Kathua participated enthusiastically in this programme. Almost every college of the district participated in this inter college programme. A detailed report of all the activities organized during the programme was presented by Dr. Pinky, NSS Programme Officer of the college.
In essay writing competition, Sania Billoria of GDC Kathua secured first position, Monika Malgotra of GDC Billawar secured second position and Tania Rajput of GCW Kathua and GDC Madheen jointly secured third position. In painting competition, Lovely Thakur of GDC Ramkot, Sneha Sharma of GDC Kathua and Jyoti Sharma of GDC Hiranagar secured first, second and third position. In quiz competition, Manjhali Sharma of GDC Kathua secured first position, Zahid Malik of GDC Billawar secured second position and Saloni of GDC Hiranagar secured third position. In singing competition, Ankush of GDC Kathua secured first position, Sunil Kumar of GDC Mahanpur and Habil Shubh of GDC Hiranagar jointly secured second position while GDC Basohli secured third position. NSS volunteers Vishal Gupta, Kanika Sharma, Shivika Rajput, Muskan Bhatt, Rekha Kumari, Sitara and Nikita Sharma managed the event in the college. The programme proceedings were conducted by Harsh and Ananya and formal vote of thanks was given by NSS Programme Officer Dr. Kulbir Singh.
