Kathua, August 23 (HS). In honor of India's first National Space Day-2024, the Department of Physics, Government Degree College Kathua organized an educational quiz competition on the topic “Touching Life by Touching the Moon: India's Space Story”.
The aim of the event was to promote a deeper appreciation and understanding of space science among students. Prof Seema Mir, Principal of the college encouraged the students to participate in such activities which enhance their curiosity in scientific pursuits and are very important for their future. Dr Dinesh Jasrotia, Head of the Department highlighted the highlights of the event. National Space Day was celebrated at GDC Kathua to highlight India's remarkable achievements in space, vast benefits to the society and unlimited opportunities for people from all walks of life.
The technicalities of the programme were validated by Prof Ravinder Kaur IQAC Coordinator, Prof Rakesh Sharma Convenor and Dr Neeraj Gupta Co-convenor of the programme. Around hundred students of the Department of Physics participated in the “National Space Day Quiz” with the aim to arouse curiosity and deepen their knowledge about India’s remarkable achievements and contributions in space exploration and space science. The programme was organised under the guidance of Dr Ahsan Ilahi, Prof Ajay Sharma and Dr Daya Ram of the Department of Physics. Successful participants received participation certificates digitally signed by the Chairman of ISRO.
