Gautam Gambhir was beaten up as soon as he became the coach! BCCI rejected two demands one after the other

Gautam Gambhir and BCCI News: After BCCI appointed Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach of India, now all the focus is on the support staff. The biggest question is who will be the batting, fielding and bowling coach along with Gambhir for the next 5 years. It is worth noting that along with Rahul Dravid, the tenure of Indian batting coach Vikram Rathod, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip also ended with the T20 World Cup. In such a situation, Team India is looking for new support staff.

Which demand was rejected first?

Generally, the BCCI gives the head coach the freedom to choose his support staff and there will be no separate rule for Gambhir. But the board rejected the former Indian opener's first choice as bowling coach and fielding coach. Gambhir had expressed interest in appointing former Indian fast bowler R Vinay Kumar as bowling coach, but the board was not interested in this recommendation.

Now which demand was rejected?

According to the report, now the board has also rejected the choice of Jonty Rhodes as fielding coach. Rhodes is known to most cricket lovers in the world. He is still counted among the best fielders in the world. Apart from this, the South African legend is associated with many teams in the IPL. He has worked with Gambhir in Lucknow Super Giants. But the BCCI is not interested in appointing any foreigner in the support staff. For the last seven years, India has been working with a completely indigenous support staff and the board does not want to make any change.

What does BCCI want to do?

Sources said Rhodes' name was discussed, but the board has decided to retain only the Indian support staff. In such a situation, the doors have opened again for T Dilip. He did a commendable job with the Indian team during his tenure. It is also not unusual for a member of the previous coaching staff to be with the next head coach. Rathore replaced Sanjay Bangar in Ravi Shastri's coaching team after the 2019 ODI World Cup and remained during Dravid's tenure.
