The total wealth of India's 100 richest people crosses one trillion dollars
The collective wealth of India's 100 richest people has crossed the one trillion dollar milestone for the first time in this record-breaking year, reports Forbes. More than 80 percent of the country's richest people are now richer than a year ago and twice as rich as in 2019.
Harish Ahuja and Surendra Saluja are in this list for the first time
The other two new faces in the list are Harish Ahuja and Surendra Saluja. Harish Ahuja's apparel manufacturing company Shahi Exports supplies labels like H&M and Calvin Klein. India's booming IPO market has made Premier Energy founder and chairman Surendra Saluja a billionaire. His company manufactures solar panels and modules. This company was listed in September.
The other three are B Partha Sarathy Reddy, founder of generic drugs and pharma ingredients maker Hetero Labs, Harish Ahuja of apparel maker Shahi Exports and Surendra Saluja, founder and chairman of solar panel and module maker Premier Energy.
Dilip Shanghvi has reached fifth place
Sun Pharmaceutical Industries founder Dilip Shanghvi climbed three places to fifth position with $32.4 billion and Torrent Group's Sudhir and Sameer Mehta's wealth more than doubled to $16.3 billion.
