Kanpur, September 17 (HS). On Ganesh Chaturdashi, on Tuesday, devotees have been thronging all the ghats of Ganga since morning to immerse the idols of Lord Ganesha, the destroyer of obstacles. Heavy police force has been deployed in view of security. However, while bidding them farewell, the eyes of the devotees and devotees became moist with joy.
The entire atmosphere of the Ganpati Mahotsav pandal reverberated with the chants of Ganpati Bappa Morya…, Next year you come soon…. Abeer gulaal was seen flying everywhere. A large number of devotees immersed the idols in the river Ganga. On Ganesh Chaturthi, people had installed the idol of Lord Ganesha in homes, pandals and temples. During this, the devotees served Lord Ganesha and worshiped him. A large number of people took the blessings of Lord Ganesha in the special aarti. After the special aarti, the idols were immersed in the river. In the afternoon, Shobha Yatra was taken out at various places. Devotees danced to the tunes of DJ. Devotees played a lot with Abeer gulaal. The entire atmosphere was seen painted in the color of Lord Ganesha. On the last day of Ganesh Mahotsav, Ganpati Bappa was bid farewell from many small pandals and houses of the city.
Apart from around eight artificial ponds in the city, some devotees kept chanting 'Ganpati Bappa Moriya…' in the town areas. Devotees took out processions with bands and attractive tableaux to mark the Ganesh festival. After travelling on the designated route, the Ganesh idols were immersed in artificial ponds and the ghats of the Ganga. Hundreds of processions were taken out on the streets where people enjoyed the Ganesh immersion by playing drums, dancing and singing bhajans. Devotees were also seen playing with colours and having fun. More than 1500 Ganpati idols were immersed in the ghats of the city.
