Ganja smuggler sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 2 lakh | News India

Purnia, 22 August (HS). The accused found guilty in the case of ganja smuggling was sentenced to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 lakh under various sections. In case the fine is not paid, the accused will have to spend an additional year in prison. The name of the accused who got the punishment is Abdul Motalib Saahab Habargadi, Thana Kotwali, District Cooch Behar, West Bengal.

This sentence has been pronounced in the court of 4th Additional District and Sessions Judge Vikram Kumar under Bayasi Police Station Case No. 420/2022. A total of six witnesses were recorded in the court in this case. The case in this case was registered by the then Sub Inspector of Police of Bayasi Police Station, Suraj Prasad. The incident took place on 28 October 2022 at 6:00 pm. During the vehicle check at the Integrated Check Post Dalkola with the police force, the Bolero ambulance Reg. No. WB63 A 6970 coming from Dalkola was signaled to stop, then on seeing the police force, the accused stopped the ambulance and got down from it and started running away.

He was caught with the help of police force. When the vehicle was searched, 31 packets of ganja (total weight 101 kg) were recovered. The above sentence was given to the accused on the basis of the testimony of the witnesses presented by the prosecution and other evidence available on record. This case was being conducted by prosecutor Shambhu Anand on behalf of the prosecution.
