Bikaner, 22 April (HS). 'Mhari Gangaur Utsav' started with pomp and show. On the first day, the program included singing traditional songs of Gangaur, preparing Gangaur with Matheran art, sewing clothes, making pearl jewellery, making Safa Paag, coloring, make up, organizing Gangaur event, assuming the form of Gangaur, making datnis, creating environment. 'Gangaur Culture Award' was given to 11 women of the city who contributed to Gangaur culture. Along with this, two male Gangaur artists were given special honors for keeping the age-old tradition alive by carving Gangaur shape from wood and making Gangaur from Matheran art. In the honour, a congratulatory letter, a glittering opera, a memento and the book 'Mhari Gangaur' were presented. Those honored included Sheela Devi Mahatma, Padma Vyas, Aarti Acharya, Jayshree Mundhara, Jyoti Daiya, Babit Sharma, Jyoti Swami, Ruchika Bhargava, Neetu Acharya, Siddhi Joshi, Indu Swami Moolchand Mahatma and Kanhayalal Sudhar.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Assistant Divisional Manager of Indian Life Insurance Sangeeta Sethi, senior folk singer Padma Vyas, social worker Ramkanwari Ojha, Lakshmi Ojha and President of Ramak Jhamak Prahlad Ojha 'Bhairun' lit the lamp in front of Gavarja. He told that before the Dhinga Gawar fair, a special women's festival 'Gangaur' was organized keeping women at the center. A lot of enthusiasm was seen in 'Mhari Gangaur Utsav'. Lakshmi Devi and Rampyari introduced the honourees.
