Kanpur, 14 November (HS). On the day of Kartik Purnima, the festival of Dev Diwali will be celebrated with enthusiasm at 23 Ganga ghats of the city. To give a grand look to the event at various ghats, preparations continued throughout the day on Thursday. For the festival of lights, every ghat was cleaned by a team.
The central event of Dev Diwali will be celebrated with full enthusiasm at Patel Ghat located at Ganga Barrage. Enthusiasm will be celebrated by donating lamps at 23 ghats of the city including Bithoor Ghat, Sarsaiya Ghat, Maskar Ghat, Magazine Ghat, Baba Ghat. Every year this event is celebrated in the presence of thousands of devotees. Devotees have been requested to light lamps in the temples located near their homes. On the day of Dev Diwali, devotees will light 5 or 11 lamps and pray for happiness and prosperity. The event will be started by lighting lamps simultaneously at all the ghats on Friday evening at 6:00 pm. In this event to be held on the lines of Banaras, the atmosphere will be made devotional through Ganga Aarti and chanting of Vedic mantras. Deodighat, Shekhpur, Sidhnath Ghat, Bengali, Dapakeshwar, Koyla, Gola, Nanarao, Guptar, Bhagwatdas, Sarsaiya, Baba, Kali, Shyam, Kamleshwar, Baba Anandeshwar, Ganesh, Bhairav, Rani, Magazine, Atal, Brahmavart and Laxman Ghat in the evening. Will shine with the same lamps. It is estimated that at least 1000 lamps will be lit in each ghat.
Strong security arrangements for bathing in Ganga
On the occasion of Kartik Purnima, there will be a flood of faith at every Ganga ghats of the city from midnight of Thursday. Lakhs of people will take a dip of faith throughout the day on Friday. In view of this, strict security arrangements have been made. Security arrangements have been strengthened at the major ghats, the holy Kartik Purnima Mahasnan sites. Police and fire brigade will also be deployed at almost all the Ganga ghats of the city during bathing and other arrangements and during the fair. Necessary instructions have been given to the police officers regarding the safe conduct of the bathing festival and fair. According to the police, except for emergency services, entry of all types of small and big vehicles into the city will be completely banned from 4 pm on Thursday till the end of bathing.
