Modak Filling Ingredients

  • 1 cup coconut flakes
  • 1 cup jaggery, powdered or dissolved
  • 1 pinch nutmeg powder
  • 1 pinch of saffron

Material for the outer layer

  • Water
  • Ghee
  • Salt
  • Rice flour

How to fill modaks

First prepare the filling, for this you have to melt the jaggery. – After this, heat a pan on the gas. – Now add grated coconut and jaggery in a pan and mix. – Keep the gas low so that the mixture does not stick. – Now after cooking for 1-2 minutes, add saffron and nutmeg and mix. Cook this mixture again for 1-2 minutes, then turn off the gas and take out the mixture in a plate and let it cool.

What to do with the outer layer?

– Boil water by adding 1 spoon of ghee in a vessel, now add salt and rice flour and cook on low flame. You can also cook it by covering it. When it is half cooked, take it out in a steel vessel. – First of all apply a little ghee in the vessel so that the mixture does not stick to the vessel. – When this dough cools down a bit, knead it well with the help of hands.

Shape the modaks

– After this, to shape the modak, you can take a modak making mold or you can make it yourself. To make it yourself, you have to make small balls of dough. After this, these pellets have to be rolled and filled with filling and a locking design has to be made by joining the four corners together.
