East Champaran, 07 July (HS). A grand Rath Yatra was taken out on Sunday from the famous Shaktipeeth Gahwa Mai temple located in Birgunj city of Nepal, adjacent to the district.
Thousands of devotees from Nepal as well as many districts of India participated in the Rath Yatra. The Rath Yatra was taken out from Gahwa Mai of Birganj adjacent to Raxaul. This Rath Yatra was organized to mark the completion of 12 years of construction of the new building of the ancient temple.
Rath Yatra is being organised since last year on the lines of Lord Jagannath Puri Temple. In which people from far and wide including India Nepal border areas participate in this grand Rath Yatra. People of Gahwa Mai Temple Trust told that inspired by the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath of Puri, Rath Yatra is being organised since last year on the same lines. In which thousands of people are participating.
Thousands of devotees from Raxaul also reached to participate in this Rath Yatra. This chariot made of Sheesham and Sakhua wood has been shaped exactly like the chariot of Jagannath temple of Puri. This chariot was pulled by the devotees and taken around the city. Nepal Police and Armed Force were deployed on a large scale for the security of the Rath Yatra. They were monitoring all the squares and intersections on the Rath Yatra route. Flowers were being showered on the Rath Yatra at many places.
Apart from this, arrangements for cold drinking water were made at the square intersections for the devotees participating in the yatra. According to an estimate, more than one lakh devotees from India and Nepal participated in the Rath Yatra.
